Symetrix Canada is not the manufacturer of Vertiv equipment. For a unit under warranty, check the warranty terms with the manufacturer first.

We maintain and repair Vertiv and Liebert UPS systems in Toronto and the GTA: the current EXL S1, EXM and APM frames, GXT rack units, and the discontinued NX and NXL frames still carrying load in many server rooms. Vertiv's own manuals set the intervals: connections tightened every year, filters every two months, batteries kept cool.

Vertiv’s product pages give no end-of-service dates for these ranges. For the NX and NXL, condition decides when to replace, not a calendar.

From the APM2 manual

Vertiv’s Liebert APM2 user manual is specific about routine care:

  • Inspect and tighten the connections at all wiring terminals and at the batteries at least once a year [2].
  • Clean or replace the air filters every two months, more often in dusty rooms [3].
  • A battery whose average temperature rises from 25 °C to 35 °C loses half its service life [4].
  • The battery self-test period can be set from 30 to 360 days [10]. A short period catches a weak string sooner.

Discontinued frames still carrying load

The NX and NXL are common in Ontario data rooms. Vertiv lists both as discontinued, and points NX owners to the EXM [8]. For these frames we keep a record per unit: DC capacitor and fan age, battery string history, alarm log and how often the unit has gone to bypass. That record shows when a repair stops being worth the money. The modular EXM is the usual replacement for an NX; larger loads go to the EXL S1.

What we check on a Liebert unit

  • The event history, exported before any reset
  • Input, output and bypass readings per phase, and the load per module on modular frames
  • Each battery block’s internal resistance against its baseline [11]
  • Fans, filters and the DC bus capacitors
  • The communication card, and whether its traps and emails reach your monitoring
  • The transfer to bypass and back, to a written method on a live load

Who services Liebert UPS systems in Toronto?

We maintain and repair Vertiv and Liebert UPS systems across Toronto and the GTA, from GXT rack units to EXL S1 frames, and keep discontinued NX and NXL frames running where owners are not ready to replace them.

How often should a Liebert UPS be serviced?

Vertiv's service data supports at least two preventive maintenance visits a year [5]. Between visits, the APM2 manual asks for filters every two months [3].

Is the Liebert NX still supported?

Vertiv lists the NX 40-200 kVA as a discontinued product family and names the Liebert EXM as its replacement [8]. Its page gives no end-of-service date, so parts availability and the unit's condition set the replacement date.

What is the lifespan of a Vertiv UPS?

The frame outlives several battery strings. Batteries, fans and capacitors wear out; replacing them on schedule lets a frame run until its parts supply ends. Heat shortens the batteries most: 35 °C instead of 25 °C halves their life [4].
