Toshiba UPS service in Toronto
Symetrix Canada is not the manufacturer of Toshiba equipment. For a unit under warranty, check the warranty terms with the manufacturer first.
We maintain and repair Toshiba UPS systems in Toronto and the GTA: the current G9000 and 4400 Series three-phase units, and the G8000, G2020, 4200FA, 4300 and 5000 frames that Toshiba now lists as legacy. The G9000 runs in parallel groups in larger data centres; the 4400 sits in small server rooms and imaging suites.
Key facts
Ranges we service
| Range | Rating | Batteries | Usual work |
|---|---|---|---|
| G9000 Series | 100 to 1,050 kVA [1] | VRLA, NiCad or Toshiba SCiB lithium titanium oxide [7] | Battery strings, fans, parallel checks |
| 4400 Series | 15 to 50 kVA [3] | Internal, or an external string on the 288 VDC link [8] | Batteries, fans, bypass checks |
| G8000, G2020, 4200FA, 4300, 5000 | Legacy [6] | Per frame | Batteries, fans, capacitors, replacement planning |
G9000 parallel systems
A G9000 group shares the load across its units, up to 4 for the 100 to 225 kVA frames or 8 for the 300 to 750 kVA frames [2]. Efficiency holds up well at partial load: up to 97% at 50 to 100% load and over 94% down to 20% [9]. Each visit checks that the units share the load evenly, that the group still covers the load with one unit out, and that every unit’s battery string reads the same as its neighbours.
Legacy units
Toshiba moves older ranges to a separate Legacy UPS list instead of publishing dated support phases [6]. The list does not say when parts or support end, so ask Toshiba for the status of your model if a contract depends on it. A legacy G8000 or 4200FA in good condition is still worth maintaining. Its batteries, fans and capacitors wear on their own schedule, and each visit records any part that is getting hard to find.
What we check on a Toshiba unit
- The fault and event history, read before any reset
- Each battery block against its last reading [10]
- Fans, air filters and the temperature in the UPS room
- Input, output and bypass readings, and the load on each phase and each parallel unit
- The transfer to bypass and back, to a method agreed for the live load

Common questions
Who services Toshiba UPS systems in Toronto?
We maintain and repair Toshiba G9000, 4400 and legacy units across Toronto and the GTA, including G9000 parallel groups.
Is the Toshiba G8000 still supported?
Toshiba lists the G8000 Series on its Legacy UPS page [6]. That page gives no end-of-support date, so confirm your unit's status with Toshiba. It can be maintained in the meantime.
What batteries does a Toshiba G9000 use?
Toshiba lists VRLA, NiCad and its own SCiB lithium titanium oxide batteries as compatible [7].
Can a Toshiba UPS be replaced with another brand?
Yes, when that is the better answer. The replacement is sized from the measured load and the runtime needed, and the changeover is planned so the load stays on protected power.
